Governor Evers earlier today announced a mandate for people to wear their pants on online conference calls as of March 4th, 2021. The decision came to the governor after viewing the recent surge in incidents where students, teachers, professors, workers, practically everyone on a zoom call, where for lack of a better term: "nakey."
The recent mandate has created a shopping tidal wave for stores, and outlets everywhere, as brands like Levi's, Old Navy, and American Eagle are struggling to keep up with the increase in demand for denim. Walmarts have been raided as well, but this fact has shocked no one, as it is Walmart we are talking about.
Local frats and sororities on the campus of UW-Oshkosh find themselves using this as a marketing campaign to recruit new members. Posts with the label "We wear the pants, so you don't have to!" can be found all over their socials.
Some celebrities have also gone to social media to voice their praise or outrage to this now labeled "pantdate." Melissa McCarthy posted her instagram with an image of her jeans from the set of the film, "The Heat," with the caption: "Thank you, Gov'nor!" Similar posts came from Bill Burr, Seth Rogen, and Jimmy Fallon. Our News You Need writers reached out to Anthony Weiner, but came back with no comment.
How are you handling this "pandate?" Is it affecting your mental health, or increasing your confidence? Is Leg Day suddenly a priority? Let us know!
